About

Tucked just over a mile from the village of Ambleside and two and a half miles from Grasmere, this scenic site is nestled in Rydal Hall Estate grounds. Surrounded by Fairfield Horseshoe and Nabscar, you will enjoy stunning views of the Rothay Valley.

Relax, recharge and reconnect exploring spectacular spots in the South Lakes. Rydal Water, on your doorstep, is connected to the larger lake of Grasmere.

All pitches are non electric, allowing a maximum tent size of 7m x 7m (and cars parked away from pitches). Due to fire safety, each tent must be pitched three metres apart. There are short walks to some of the pitches which can deliver fantastic views of the neighbouring fells. Campsite Wardens are at hand to assist if required.

The three eco pods here provide an idyllic and sustainable wooden shelter for those who'd rather not pitch up a tent. They're unfurnished, so bring all you would for camping, but are sure to offer cosy protection from the elements and a hassle free experience.

We do allow fire pits, but they must be raised 2ft off the ground and controlled at all times. No ground fires are allowed except for in the communal dedicated fire pit ONLY, this has been built for guests to sit around and share their campstie stories.
Sustainable firewood can be purchased onsite - sorry scavenging for wood isn't allowed for environmental reasons. Pod guests are welcome to use the barbecue stand outside the pod.

As this is a dark sky campsite we recommend you to bring a torch.

We are a quiet site, please observe the 'no noise' from 10.30pm.

Dogs are welcome for both camping and pod stays and must be kept on a lead at all times.

The location also includes two holiday cottages, a bunk house and a barn.
