Once a 17th century traditional working farm, our lovely family run guesthouse Situated and surrounded by wonderful views of the Langdales, Loughrigg and Furness Fells, provides a peaceful and tranquil setting for your stay in the heart of the Lake District. Come and relax, enjoy good food, a warm welcome and experience a slower, peaceful pace of life in this beautiful setting.
There is a choice of five individually designed bedrooms within the farmhouse, each with en-suite shower, luxury toiletries, flatscreen TV, plus tea and coffee making facilities. There are 4 double rooms and a twin that can be made into a King. The rooms at the back of the house have views over the fells and the garden, those at the front have views out onto the Cumbria way. Wifi is available throughout the farmhouse. Breakfast is served in our bright and spacious breakfast room with windows that let in the morning sunshine, the ideal place to watch the birds on the bird feeders. See the chickens in the yard and enjoy their eggs at breakfast, There are plenty of facilities available at Elterwater Park in order to ensure you have an enjoyable and comfortable stay. These include our guest lounge with lovely views of the garden and a wood burning stove to keep you warm on cooler days. On warmer days you can sit in our beautiful garden, enjoy the views of the surrounding fells and watch the birds on the feeders. We have an honesty bar and a tea room (open seasonally) serving homemade cakes and light refreshments. Ample free off-road parking in 119 acres of private parkland on the Cumbrian way. Secure Bike Store and Drying Room on site.
Whatever your interests, there is so much to see and do during your stay at Elterwater Park. We are perfectly located when it comes to walking as the Cumbria Way passes through the yard. Step from the door onto the Cumbria Way and walk to places such as Colwith Force, Tarn Hows or Elterwaters Lake of swans. Be more adventurous and walk in the beautiful Langdale valley or other surrounding fells. You are in the Lakes so if you are a swimmer or triathlete, Elterwater is perfect for a dip or fitness training.
The Southern lakes offers amazing opportunities for wild swimming. Both Windermere and Coniston are nearby for a Lake swim, and tarns such as Stickle Tarn in the Langdales and Goats Tran in Coniston offer a refreshing mountain swim.
Cyclists can enjoy a choice of country lanes, challenging mountain passes and dedicated mountain bike trails in nearby Grizedale forest. The local towns of Ambleside, Coniston or Hawkeshead are all nearby if you fancy something less strenuous. You can take a cruise on Lake Windermere or Coniston water where you can soak up the views. Make a visit to some of the areas fantastic visitor attractions including Rydal Mount, Ruskin museum, Dove cottage, Brantwood and Hilltop to name just a few.
