About

Gill Beck Barn is a 5* converted sandstone barn next to a renovated family farmhouse. It is positioned on a hill along a quiet country lane between the villages of Melmerby and Gamblesby.

This is a walkers’ luxury base, a retreat for writers and artists in need of calm inspiration, or a welcoming celebratory space for family and friends get-togethers near the Lake District. Nearby Melmerby Village has a lovely little village post office tea room shop, a great and reasonably priced antique shop and The Old Village Bakery which serves breakfasts, lunches, coffees, bread and cakes and has a lovely ladies fashion, interior and gift shop upstairs called 'Hollberrie' which is definitely worth a visit to support local independent retailing!

Melmerby has a village pub called The Shepherd's Inn which is very welcoming and serves delicious food. All these are within an easy walk of the hall. There are some great country pubs for dining (The Fetherston Arms & the Crown) which are a short journey away in Kirkoswald.

Gill Beck Barn sleeps 6 guests in 3 ensuite double bedrooms, two of which are on the ground floor. It has a large well-equipped open plan dining kitchen with an Aga, electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher and fridge freezer. The living area has a sandstone fireplace with a cast iron log burning stove
