About
This impressively renovated Lakeland barn lies in an enviable location just a mile from Bassenthwaite Village in a fine rural area on the edge of the Skiddaw Fells. With walks from the door to the high tops and many easier tempting rambles or cycle routes, you may not have time to explore some of the more remote valleys of the National Park but it would be a real shame to miss Ennerdale, Buttermere and the far reaches of the Skiddaw range during your stay.
Bassenthwaite is a pretty village with a pub whilst the lake that shares its name is well known as a venue for dinghy sailing and has a welcoming local sailing club. Other good places to eat out include the popular Pheasant Inn, which is a short drive away. The nearby town of Cockermouth has regular Farmers' Markets selling local produce whilst Keswick is the centre for live theatre, cinema and various festivals throughout the year.
If you are looking for a high degree of comfort in a fine location we feel that Low Melbecks Barn really is a place to unwind and relax in peaceful surroundings whilst enjoying this magical corner of the Lakes in any season.
