About

This impressively renovated Lakeland barn lies in an enviable location just a mile from Bassenthwaite Village in a fine rural area on the edge of the Skiddaw Fells. With walks from the door to the high tops and many easier tempting rambles or cycle routes, you may not have time to explore some of the more remote valleys of the National Park but it would be a real shame to miss Ennerdale, Buttermere and the far reaches of the Skiddaw range during your stay.

Bassenthwaite is a pretty village with a pub whilst the lake that shares its name is well known as a venue for dinghy sailing and has a welcoming local sailing club. Other good places to eat out include the popular Pheasant Inn, which is a short drive away. The nearby town of Cockermouth has regular Farmers' Markets selling local produce whilst Keswick is the centre for live theatre, cinema and various festivals throughout the year.

If you are looking for a high degree of comfort in a fine location we feel that Low Melbecks Barn really is a place to unwind and relax in peaceful surroundings whilst enjoying this magical corner of the Lakes in any season.

Accommodation: The barn has been built with the living accommodation upstairs to optimize the superb views with the bedrooms downstairs. Main entrance on the ground floor or second entrance to the side of the barn with approximately fifteen steps leading up to the door. The whole of the top floor is open plan with lounge area to one end with sofas, 42 inch flat screen TV with freesat, DVD player, free limited wi-fi and fireorb hanging wood burning stove. The dining area is at the other end with large oak table. To one side of the lounge and down a couple of steps is the kitchen area with stylish units in walnut veneer, electric Aga, solid worktops and high quality appliances. There is a bi-fold door opening out from the kitchen on to the rear patio area. There is a cloakroom on this level with shower, basin and wc. The upstairs has dramatic 'A' frame oak ceiling beams, stone tiled flooring and an abundance of windows flooding the room with light.

Downstairs there are three bedrooms, three bathrooms and a utility area. Bedroom one is the master bedroom with super-king sized bed, comfortable seating, flat screen TV and patio doors on to the front garden area. En-suite to master has large curved shower enclosure with power shower, basin and wc. Bedroom two is a twin, which has use of a separate shower room off the hallway with basin and wc. Bedroom three has a king size bed, door out to the front garden and en-suite bathroom with freestanding double ended bath, basin and wc - fully tiled in local green slate.

Low Melbecks Barn has been finished to a high standard with new and contemporary furnishings and stone and oak flooring throughout with underfloor heating. There is a good feeling of light and space through the whole house and every thought has been given to make it a home from home.

Outside: Lawn areas and gravelled steps surround the property with a patio area to the rear with garden furniture overlooking fields. Parking for up to 4 cars. Bassenthwaite approx 1 mile and Keswick approx 6 miles.
