About

This picturesque part of The Lake District, much loved by Beatrix Potter and where she made her home, offers guests a chance to relax and enjoy the peacefulness and charm of one of the prettiest parts of The National Park. There are gentle walks in the area - across the fields to Near Sawrey for a visit to Beatrix Potter's home at Hill Top, or over the little path opposite the cottage to the shores of Lake Windermere about half a mile distant.

The ferry across the lake takes you easily to Bowness and there are many opportunities for exploring the quiet byways on the western side of Lake Windermere either on foot or cycle and two good pubs within walking distance. To find out operating times and schedules please click here for more information. Rowan Cottage has all the ingredients of a good holiday. Hawkshead village, about two miles distant, has charming local shops, tea shops and good pubs, there are many trails to explore in Grizedale Forest and fishing on nearby Esthwaite Water.

Accommodation: Front door entrance into attractive sitting room (TV with satellite Freeview, DVD, video, CD/radio/cassette player, multi-fuel stove). Door through to the good sized, newly fitted and well-equipped dining kitchen. This light, comfortable area makes an ideal space for socializing whilst preparing meals. Enclosed rear porch ideal for storing wet weather gear. French windows opening onto the terrace and garden beyond.

The upstairs of the cottage is well planned with three bedrooms - a good sized double on the first floor with built-in furniture and washbasin and en-suite shower and wc. Also on the first floor is a modern family bathroom (bath, shower, basin and wc). On the second floor is a spacious twin room with fitted wardrobes and a pleasant single room.

The cottage has a good feeling of space, is well-equipped and comfortable for a holiday in any season. Fitted carpets throughout. Night storage heaters and off peak hot water with boost.

Outside: Sunny back garden has a pretty terrace with garden table, chairs and umbrella and a lovely view of fields and trees behind. Parking for two cars - one outside the front and one in a little access lane to the rear. Pub approx 5 mins walk, Hawkshead just less than 3 miles.

Up to two pets accepted * non-smoking * duvets/beds made up for arrival * electric cooker and hob * microwave * dishwasher * auto washer * dryer * payphone * all fuel included * fuel for stove available locally * free Wi-Fi broadband * travel cot and high chair available - please order * towels available - please order * garden furniture
