Welcome to Woodlands Country House & Cottage. We are a family owned and run guest house and self-catering cottage in the rural village of lreby in northwest Cumbria. Woodlands was built at the height of Victorian gothic grandeur and features many original and period designs both inside and out.
We are currently undergoing extensive renovations to both preserve the character and update the services we provide for modern comforts. Our garden annex was built in the 1980s but has received an extensive upgrade in its energy efficiencies and is heated from our BioMass boiler; it offers level access to the main house and spacious easy access shower rooms. Our décor follows significant figures in Lakeland history from the Campbells' Bluebird to Wainwright.
Free wifi and LAN is available throughout and each room is furnished with smart TV and a continental king-sized bed. The main house features the dining room, a lounge with views over the garden and pastures and an open fire, bar, snug with wood-burning stove and period feature ceiling. The self-catering cottage, the vicarage's former stable block, features a wood-burning stove in the living/dining room and full height ceiling, a double and single bedroom, bathroom and fully kitted kitchen. Beautiful sunsets over the pastures towards Boltongate can be seen from the living room and the private garden. We use only HETAS approved fuels in our commitment to the environment.
