About The Lakes Mountaineer

I'm Ben, a qualified Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor and Winter Mountain Leader. I deliver all the courses, experiences and adventures. I have over 25 years of experience of leading and instructing in the mountains.

One of the best things about the mountains is that they treat everyone the same. Similarly, I welcome everyone and anyone to enjoy days out with me in the mountains, whatever your background, level of challenge, knowledge or ability.

If you want a climbing course, a navigation course, a family adventure or just want to go rock climbing,
The Lakes Mountaineer is happy to help.

We have a climbing course for you whatever your level, from beginner just trying rock climbing, a learn to lead sport climbing course, and trad lead courses, both single-pitch and multi-pitch. Family adventure takes in rock climbing, abseiling, scrambling and more - there is something for all ages. The mix of activities is up to you.

There is also scrambling: somewhere between mountain walking and rock climbing, this is more of a journey through the mountains.

And don't forget the guiding service - for mountain walks, Wainwright walks, rock climbing and scrambling.

Have a look on the site to find out more about a climbing course to suit you, a family adventure, or just to look at pictures of rock climbing!
