Gertrude Lawrence – A Lovely Way to Spend an Evening

A theatrical cabaret performed by Lucy Stevens with pianist Elizabeth Marcus which tells the story of the 1930’s star of musical comedy Gertrude Lawrence. Using text drawn from Gertrude Lawrence’s memoirs and letters woven with songs from her repertoire, it tells the Gertrude Lawrence story, a feisty, strong woman from Clapham who transcended the class ceiling, forging her stage and screen career. It's funny and revealing with over 20 songs from London variety to hits by Noel Coward and Kurt Weill. Tickets £15 (£7.50 under 18) from village PO, Coffee Shop and on-line here.

Hear about the incredible lifestyle and life on the wing of these iconic and much-loved masters of the summer skies, with video clips from nest sites. Threlkeld Mines – Exhibition and Evening Talk

Staff from the Environment Agency and Coal Authority Water & Abandoned Metal Mines (WAMM) team will present information on the river pollution caused by the former Threlkeld Lead Mines. This pollution extends as far as Bassenthwaite Lake and makes it the second most polluted river in the UK. They will also explain how they are proposing to clean up this pollution using nature-based solutions. Tuesday 14th May, Exhibition & Meet the Team 2:30 - 4pm. Talk 7 - 8pm. Bar from 6:30pm. Ally Harron and Marian Curry are a duo who perform Irish and Country music and have been touring with their music since getting together back in 1997. They grew up in the countryside of Co. Fermanagh in the 1960’s, in a time when there was music sessions in the family home, whether it be traditional Irish music or Country music, with local musicians getting together, exchanging tunes, stories and songs. Guided Walk: K2T Past, Present and Future

Guided walk along the Keswick to Threlkeld Railway path with Donald Angus and Adam Bazire. Starts at Threlkeld and takes a bus to Keswick (or meet in Keswick) then walk back along the Railway Path. Along the way, you'll hear the story of the railway, and explore the broader industrial history of the Greta Valley. We will also look at the what's involved in the upkeep of the K2T, and the plans for its future. Lasts about 3 hrs. Meet at bus stop near Threlkeld Village Hall at 9:45am or at Keswick Old Railway Station platform at 10:15am. FREE!

Trio Vents de Lorraine

A talented trio of professional musicians from France. Their unlikely trio, combining instruments from different eras (recorders, flutes and accordion) offers a journey from European Early music (Purcell, Bach, Pergolesi) to South American popular music (Piazzolla, Palmeri, Malaquias, Abreu), giving prominence to dance music and songs. A Geological Walk around Threlkeld

A guided walk around Threlkeld with Dr Danny Clark-Lowes, geologist and U3A geology field trip leader in the Lake District. Much can be learned about the geology of Threlkeld from the building stones and in gardens apart from the areas of former mines. This walk starts from the Village Hall Car Park at 1:30pm and lasts about 2½hrs, finishing at the village hall. FREE! Wear strong shoes or boots. May involve some uneven ground.

North Sea Gas are Dave Gilfillan, Grant Simpson and Ronnie MacDonald. Over thirty-nine years and stronger than ever! “North Sea Gas” is one of Scotland’s most popular folk bands with great vocals and tremendous three part harmonies. Guitars, Mandolin, Fiddle, Bouzouki, Harmonica, Whistles, Bodhrans, Banjo and good humour are all part of the entertainment. They have received Gold and Silver Disc awards from the Scottish Music Industry Association and regularly have sold out shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and around the world! From Threlkeld to 3 Dads Walking- Illustrated Talk by Andy Airey

A poignant talk by Andy Airey, born in Threlkeld, of how he achieved something positive after the unexpected suicide of his daughter, Sophie, in 2018. When looking for a charity to support at Sophie’s funeral he found Papyrus and has fund-raised for them since. In 2021 he formed “3 Dads Walking” with 2 other bereaved fathers, Tim Owen and Mike Palmer. They walked over 300miles raising funds for Papyrus, a suicide prevention charity, and encouraged people to talk about suicide prevention. A second and third walk followed. Entry £2 on the door.
