Beatrix Potter, Lake District, Luxury Private Guided Tour
Beatrix Potter day! After breakfast we will make our way to Hill Top, owned by the National Trust, this is the home that inspired Beatrix Potter to create her much loved characters. Full of her precious things, Hill Top encapsulates her passion that went on to dominate her life, preserving the landscape and culture of the Lakes.
From traditional Lakeland furniture, to trophies for her prize-winning Herdwick sheep, Hill Top represents her legacy. The colourful garden is just as Beatrix knew it. In fact, the house is also just as she left it and gives us a unique insight of her life and times.
For lunch we will discover one of Hawkshead's many wonderful cafes or pubs. Early afternoon we will go around The Beatrix Potter gallery and then walk up to St Michaels and All Angles Church which dates from 1500’s and majestically overlooks the village.
A visit to the Beatrix Potter exhibition at The Armitt Museum in Ambleside this afternoon. There was so much more to Beatrix Potter than the creation of Peter Rabbit and Jemima Puddleduck. The museum introduces us to the passionate environmentalist and keen farmer. The display of her Fungi water colours is amazing.
