Morecambe Bay is the home of the shrimp. Renowned for a delicate taste and unique texture, these local delicacies have been caught by local fishermen for generations and are served at many restaurants and cafes around the Bay.
With the seaside on our doorstep, fish is always the dish of the day in Morecambe Bay. You simply must enjoy a generous helping of award-winning fish and chips on the sea front at Arnside whilst admiring the sun set over the Kent Estuary.
The small village of Cartmel is unique in the culinary world. You will find not one, but two Michelin starred restaurants. They both source ingredients from the local area to produce dishes that will excite those tastebuds.
If you have a sweet tooth the village of Cartmel is also the home of the world-famous sticky toffee pudding. Produced in a small village shop, this dessert is eaten around the world and recommended by A-listers including Madonna!
There’s plenty of choice, and lots of different cuisines to enjoy - but what most have in common is a commitment to preparing food using the very best of local produce.
If you are partial to a G&T then Morecambe Bay is home to independent gin producers offering a selection of flavours to try out. The area is also rich in craft ales produced locally. Check out the range of distilleries, breweries and micro-breweries. There is always a new variety to sample. Why not try a local beer festival and find a new favourite pint.
Don’t forget to visit one of our renowned farmers markets and take some of our finest produce home with you. We are experts in award-winning cheeses and fell bread lamb.
A visit to Morecambe Bay is a delight for the soul and the senses – a very special place indeed.
