Meet the Alpacas at The Lakes Distillery… and so it was once upon a time when The Lakes Distillery was the perfect place to live alpacaly ever after! Situated on the River Derwent in a dramatic location, it is surrounded by incredible views of the northern most fells. The Lakes Distillery is the perfect place to come along and Meet The Alpacas! Every Saturday and Sunday at 2:30pm (with extra dates during school holidays) you will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with the alpacas and their babies. This activity lasts 30 minutes and involves hand feeding the girls on their home field, spending time getting to know the herd and learning lots from the guide. New babies can usually be seen in late Spring/Summer but always check with us first. Suitable for all ages and abilities, we can takes groups of up to 30 people, all visitors under 18 must be accompanied by a parent.

The Lingholm Estate also offers Afternoon Teas that can be purchased as part of your walk activity. We have a selection of Gift Vouchers for each activity so if you can't decide, head to our website for more details.
We are a Social Enterprise that rescues and rehomes Alpacas and Llamas, their health and welfare is our main priority. We look forward to sharing our Woolly Army with you.

Prices start at £12 for visitors 12 yrs & over, £6 for children 4 – 11 yrs, and under 4s are free. (There are NO WALKS at this activity site)

From the A66: Turn off A66 at the north end of Bassenthwaite Lake onto B5291. At Ouse Bridge junction bear left (don’t go over the bridge). Distillery is on the right after a few hundred meters.
From the A591: Use the turning directly next to the Castle Inn onto the B5291. Carry on past Armathwaite Hall. Bear right after crossing the Ouse Bridge and the Distillery is on the right after a few hundred meters.
