About

Beatrix Potter: Image and Reality, explores the extraordinary life of the Armitt's most famous member. Beatrix Potter was a member of the Armitt almost from its foundation in 1912 and was a major benefactor donating books and paintings in her lifetime and bequeathing her portfolios of natural history watercolours and her personal copies of her 'little books' on her death. These are all used to portray the life of this remarkable lady. Scientist, artist, storyteller, businesswoman, farmer, sheep breeder, estate manager, and conservationist, her life was an extraordinary journey. With support from the National Trust and Frederick Warne archives, and audio readings from her journal, the Armitt has created a feast for Beatrix Potter fans and anyone interested in the Lake District.
