About

Lower Red Barn Gallery

Red Barn is the place to shop for a fantastic selection of hand picked, unusual and unique gifts. But Shhhhhhh don’t tell everyone!

THE shop in the area for a great selection of unique gifts; homeware, leather bags and purses, scarves, soaps, home fragrances, throws, lanterns, mirrors, hand-made candles, cards and wrapping paper.

Upstairs find ceramics, paintings, prints, glassware sculptures and the largest selection of bespoke hand-crafted jewellery in the North, all created by some of the best artists in the UK and Europe.

Red Barn Gallery

Red Barn Gallery now is firmly cemented in the Art World, exhibitions change bi-monthly with a host of fine artists and ceramicists on show. Red Barn also has a permanent display of contemporary bespoke jewellery displayed throughout the year with the work of over 50 makers changing regularly.

Upstairs, the gallery has a reputation for showcasing the work by some of the country’s most highly regarded artists, sculptors and craftspeople. From decorative teapots to figurative pieces, the diverse range of ceramics include works by Christine Cummings, Peter Hayes, Tim Andrews, Morag Muir, Mathieu Van Der Giessen and Anna-Mercedes Wear.

Larch Cottage Garden Centre

As host to over 15,000 varieties of plants, the vast majority of which are propagated on-site, we specialise in rare and unusual shrubs, perennials and climbers, Japanese Acers, old fashioned roses and slow growing and Dwarf Conifers. For many of these varieties wea re the country's only suppliers as listed in the RHS Bible, The Plantfinder.

On site, we have the renowned La Casa Verde restaurant offering a taste of the Mediterranean using the produce of Cumbria., with a terrace overlooking the gardens and onto the Pennines beyond.

Adjacent is the Red Barn Art Gallery, featuring contemporary British artists and sculptors working in a wide variety of media.

We also have the Lower Red Barn, which stocks a huge range of unique and unusual glassware, jewellery, tableware, ceramics, wall hangings, candles, wall sconces, tapestried, soft leather bags and much more.

La Casa Verde Restaurant

The best food is often the simplest and the freshest, produced with care and generosity. La Casa Verde serves just this, and with style and spirit of Italian al fresco dining.

This is the place where you can sit on a balcony and relax with friends, drink a glass of wine or cup of coffee whilst eating a delicious lunch or even a afternoon tea – what could be nicer?

La Casa Verde dishes are seasonal using fruit and vegetables picked from our organic kitchen garden, which can be found at the bottom end of the nursery.

Cakes and Scones freshly made daily.
