You are here: Home > Things to Do > Retro Photography Experience with Lakeland Photo Centre
Like Vinyl Records, ‘analogue’ film photography is making a come-back!
So Lakeland Photo Centre are offering the exciting opportunity to enjoy the tactile experience of 35mm film photography - including developing your own film and taking home your very own envelope of prints.
The 4 hour experience is based at our beautiful boathouse studio, right on the edge of lake Windermere.
At the start of the experience each participant will be handed a vintage 35mm camera to use for the day. We will also provide you with a roll of 35mm film and show you how to load it and then adjust the camera controls and use the light meter.
You will then be invited to wander around the area taking as many pictures as you can before you run out of film! You could take a short ferry ride to the Harrowslack shore, or perhaps go full retro and visit the Claife Heights Viewing Station, or you could just stay close to the studio and shoot luxury yachts in front of Belle Isle - with views stretching all the way to the Fairfield Horseshoe.
We will return to the studio and you will be guided through the process of developing your own roll of film. We deliberately use developing equipment and chemicals that are readily available at reasonable cost - so you can do it all at home if this experience gives you the inspiration to take up analogue photography!
There will then be time for tea or coffee and some cake while we wait for the films to dry.
Finally we will scan your negatives and then print them all using our Kodak Kiosk for you to take home an envelope of 6x4 prints - just like we used to in the ‘80s!
The price of this experience includes the loan of a camera, a roll of film, all developing chemicals and equipment, an envelope of 6x4 prints of all your pictures and even an SD card with the digital scans to use on social media etc.!
All this for just £95 per person
