About

Something in Common by James Fox at Blackwell – the Arts & Crafts house.

Enticing and subversive this exhibition sees textile artist James Fox exploring public land rights and how craft can be used as a force for change.

Fox has created new work for this commission that investigates society's relationship with the countryside.  Displayed alongside key landscape paintings from the Lakeland Arts collection, including artists such as Ben Nicholson, Sheila Fell and L S Lowry, the exhibition examines the history of public land rights and highlights how the subtle use of craft can be used to subvert power in society.

Fox is a textile artist based at Lancaster University. He is currently working towards a PhD exploring craft as a tool of protest.   Fox has exhibited and sold textile-based work nationally and internationally.

Open 17 June – 9 October 2022.
Free with admission to the house.
