In 2003 SwimTrek pioneered open water swimming holidays. Twenty years later, ten of thousands of swimmers from around the world have enjoyed some the best open water swimming locations in the world. Today, SwimTrek is the largest swimming tour operator in the world, offering 50 locations and swimming experiences suitable for all swimmers.

SwimTrek adventures extend to some of the most iconic national parks around the world, including the leafy English Lake District. It’s here, in this playground of glacial lakes, rivers, waterfalls and tarns, where we seek out lesser-swum spots and hiking trails that inspired some of the UK’s best-loved poetry.

Join us for our Western Lakes, Lakes and Tarns and YogaSwim trips with carefully selected itineraries, freshly refined for a totally unique experience in a popular region of northern England. Set in a panorama of rolling fells and vast freshwater, there’s so much to discover as we travel in groups of like-minded swimmers, led by our expert guides and supported at all times by experienced local safety escorts. 

All of SwimTrek’s trips include a swim grading level to help you choose just the right swimming experience to suit your interests and abilities.

We know that grading a swim can be hard. What might be easy for one person could be challenging for another. The difficulty level of a specific trip can also vary across the season, and conditions can quickly change while on a trip, turning a leisurely swim into a challenging one if the weather changes. This is where our expert guides adjust trip itineraries based on their knowledge of the local conditions, keeping the experience safe & fun.
