About

Historic Thomas Mawson 1910 garden with magnificent lakeland view. 5.5 acre grounds include formal terraces, two stone summerhouses, pergola and many seats. A stone fountain original to the garden has been purchased and installed. There are ancient trees everywhere, with new plantings. A woodland walk, a natural spring which makes a pool and tumbles down the slopes. A cold house contains tender climbers, fuchsias, abutilons and clematis. Alpines, herbaceious plants and interesting shrubs inhabit smaller gardens. There is something to interest at any time of the year. A self-contained apartment is available, with view.

Large coaches have to park in lay-by on main road. Visitors have to walk 0.5 mile to house. Partial access for wheelchairs.
