About

Fancy feeling the freedom of abseiling down a cliff or off a railway viaduct

If you enjoy high level excitements then why not step boldly over the edge of a near-vertical rock face or abseil down the side of a railway viaduct?

Abseiling is a classic outdoor adventure challenge, which anyone can enjoy. You don’t need experience to enter this vertical world, just a desire to overcome a natural fear of heights and a “give it a go” attitude. The feeling of achievement when you reach the base of the cliff is ample reward.

It is basically controlled sliding down a rope where friction is exerted on the abseil rope through a metal descending device, usually a figure-of-eight. You have total control of the rate of descent by holding the abseil rope. Strength is not required, just good abseil technique, which qualified instructors can teach you in a matter of minutes. But at the end of the day your instructor can never make you go faster, only slow you down for safety.

At Adventure Vertical we use a number of locations throughout the North of England as well as in North Wales and across venues in Scotland, everything from bridges, old quarries, dams, and sea cliffs enabling us to cater for everyone’s threshold. Thrill seekers also have the option of abseiling 100 ft over the lip of a quarry in the Lake District or from a railway viaduct in the Eden Valley. If you fancy a bigger, more adventurous experience, why not join us underground on a caving trip and undertake a number of simple abseils and caving ladder climbs as part of your journey.

About Adventure Vertical

Based in Cumbria, we operate across the North of England, Midlands and North Wales. Where our clients have very specific requirements on location, then we have operated out of hotel grounds across the UK and many of the UK’s National Parks to ensure delivery of adventures close to their base.

We offer a range of adventurous outdoor activities for team building, recreation, outdoor education, development and training to a broad portfolio of clients. These include schools, colleges, youth groups, voluntary organisations, individuals, families, adult and corporate groups. However we hold true to our roots, and our core clients will remain families looking to inspire the next generation of explorers. This is why we hold a 3 year license to deliver adventurous activities to those 18 years or under from the Adventurous Activities Licensing Authority, allowing us to deliver to schools, cadets and youth groups.
