Continuing to celebrate 175 years since the station opened on the 1st September and the booking office issued the first ticket on the 10th September 1847.This year we are also celebrating the 50th year of the Carlisle Power Signal Box which enabled the electrification of the line and the arrival of electric locomotives. A Powerpoint presentation will first be given in the County Hotel. We will then walk around the corner to the Railway Station to begin the tour. Looking for evidence of changes, listening to stories of interesting events and quiet heroes. Wear warm, waterproof clothing to be comfortable. We will be using some steps and the lifts.
