Celebrate Heritage Open Days at Townend on Friday 6 September with free entry for all.
Learn about the Browne family who lived here and how to trace your own family history with the Cumbria Family History Society.
Townend was the home of the Browne family for over 400 years and the archive and collection this farming family left behind, brings their story to life for today's visitors. You can wander round the house and small cottage garden at your own pace between 10am-3pm, please note that last entry to the house is 2.30pm.
Have you got Cumbrian family roots? Members of the Cumbria Family History Society will be on hand to offer advice on how you can embark on your own genealogy journey of discovery.
