Modern Calligraphy Workshop

In this workshop you will learn the basics of how to use a pointed nib, learn about different paper and inks (and their pitfalls!) then progress onto writing letters. You will be given lots of help and advice to enable you to carry on practicing at home and be able to complete your own projects. By the end of the day you should be able to write out a short quote or greeting in colour.

We will start with warm-up exercises to get used to the nib, followed by the practical session. The day is made up of demonstrations and practice, learning the lower-case alphabet first. We then progress onto capital letters which in turn will lead us to writing words and short sentences.

Alphabet copy sheets and other handouts are included.

All tools and materials will be available for use on the day, but you may of course bring your own if you already own them. Items will be available to purchase on the day, and advice given as to what to purchase should you wish to continue with the skill at home.

Homemade refreshments and a two course lunch will be provided.
