Cockermouth Live! brings joyful West African vibe to the Kirkgate!
Energetic young master musician and Glastonbury emerging talent winner, N'famady Kouyaté will headline Cockermouth Live! this year. This rising star, originally from Guinea in West Africa, will bring his 5-piece band to the Kirkgate Centre on Friday 4th July, 8pm.
N'famady Kouyaté, who relocated to Cardiff (Wales) in 2019, has wowed audiences across the UK with his fusion of Mandingue African with western jazz, pop, indie, and funk influences provided by an ever-evolving collective of musicians. N'famady's primary instrument is the balafon (the traditional wooden xylophone sacred to West African culture) but he'll be joined by keyboards, drumkit, djembe, guitar, bass, kora, doundoun, congas, saxophone, trumpet, & callabash.
Expect to be thoroughly charmed by the N'famady's infectious enthusiasm and joy as this exciting band sets the tone for a sunny, festival atmosphere!
Tickets: Adults £27 | Under 18s £20 available via the Kirkgate Centre website
