Voices from the Wall is a new interactive exhibition at Birdoswald Roman Fort exploring shared histories between Britain and Romania, which began nearly two millennia ago. The earliest group of 'Romanians' to live and work in Britain arrived more than 1900 years ago, as part of the Roman army, and Dacian soldiers were stationed on Hadrian's Wall for centuries.
Romanians of all ages living and working in Cumbria and the wider North West region have contributed creatively to this exhibition through stories, poetry, interviews, art and a short film.
The project was developed by Bronwen Riley and is run in partnership with the Romanian Cultural Institute in London, with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, Arts Council England and the Institute of Classical Studies.
At Birdoswald Roman Fort until 3 November.
