Guided Walks to Celebrate Route Launch

To celebrate the launch of the Westmorland and Furness Way, a series of guided walks will take place along sections of the new route in September.

The trail officially launches on 15th September as part of the Sedbergh Walking & Wellbeing Festival, which runs from 14th – 20th September. The festival features two guided walks along sections of the new trail:

  • Friday 18th September – A Howgills’ Traverse: a high-level route from Sedbergh to The Calf.
  • Saturday 19th September – A Pennine Journey: a low-level route from Cross Keys Temperance Inn to Sedbergh.

Kirkby Stephen District and Walkers

Kirkby Stephen District and Walkers are hosting a guided walk along a section of the Westmorland and Furness Way on Thursday 17 September.

Meeting point: Church Brough village green
Meeting time: 10:15 for a 10:30 start
Distance: approximately 4.5 miles from Church Brough along the a section of the Westmorland and Furness Way that follows the Pennine Journey back to Kirkby Stephen.

The start time has been arranged to coincide with the 563 bus, which departs from Kirkby Stephen Pennine Hotel at 09:49.
