Make Alston your base before starting your adventure on the Westmorland & Furness Way.

Located in the historic market town of Alston, our independent hostel is ideally located for walkers exploring the North Pennines and preparing for the Westmorland & Furness Way.

We offer a friendly, relaxed place to stay where you can get ready for your journey. We offer both dorm beds and private rooms to meet your needs.
Starting a long-distance walk is easier when everything is close at hand. Alston has shops, pubs and cafes, while the hostel provides a welcoming place to stay before you set off. Evening meals and breakfasts are served to order, and we can send you on your way with a hearty packed lunch.

Once you leave Alston, the Westmorland & Furness Way takes you into some of the most beautiful and dramatic scenery in the North Pennines.
Whether you are beginning the complete Westmorland & Furness Way, or walking it in sections, Alston Hostel makes a convenient , friendly and affordable place to start your journey.
