Campervans & Motorhomes

Planning to travel the Cumbria Coastal Route in your motorhome or campervan? With a whole host of places to stay along the route, it’s a great way to explore. Take a look at our handy guide to making the most of your trip.

There’s a great choice of accommodation along the Cumbria Coastal Route, from larger holiday parks with fantastic facilities to smaller, more basic sites. You’ll also find a number of Caravan and Motorhome Club sites along the way.

It’s always best to book ahead, especially during busier periods. However, for last minute trips it’s always worth giving sites a call to see if they have space as they will be happy to fit you in if they can. Staying in official sites, many of which are locally run, is a great way to support our landscapes and communities.

Much of the Cumbria Coastal Route follows wide, easily accessible roads, making it well suited to motorhomes and campervans. However, there are some narrower country lanes in places, so take care and use passing places where needed. Please avoid parking in passing places, and take care not to block roads or gateways.

As you travel, take time to experience the route like a local. Stop at farm shops and delis for local produce, visit attractions that share the area’s rich history, and enjoy a warm welcome in cosy pubs, cafés and restaurants along the coast.
