The Galloping Horse in Harrington has been at the heart of the local community for more than 150 years. Originally a resting place for weary travellers when the area was surrounded by fields and farmland, the pub has grown alongside the village of High Harrington, evolving through the years with a number of additions and improvements.
Today, the Galloper combines its traditional pub heritage with a fresh, welcoming atmosphere. Following a major refurbishment completed in 2023, both the interior and garden spaces have been thoughtfully redesigned to create comfortable surroundings where guests can relax, eat, and socialise. With stylish décor and a warm, friendly ambience, the Galloping Horse continues its long tradition of serving quality home-cooked food and genuine Cumbrian hospitality.
The pub offers several distinct spaces to suit every occasion. Nigel’s Bar celebrates the Galloper’s roots as a lively drinkers’ pub, with a cosy setting, friendly bar staff, and Sky Sports on the big screen. Wuky’s Nook provides a quieter, comfortable area ideal for relaxed gatherings or private events. The restaurant area offers flexible seating for couples, families, and larger groups enjoying the pub’s varied menu of classic dishes, small plates, and mid-week offers.
Outside, the newly redesigned garden features plenty of seating, refreshed planting, and sheltered heated areas—perfect for enjoying food and drinks outdoors. Whether visiting for a meal, a drink, or a catch-up with friends, you’ll always feel “Among Friends” at the Galloping Horse.
