About

The Pennington Hotel, in the heart of the village of Ravenglass, has been in the Pennington Family since the 16th Century, inaugurated as the Pennington Arms in 1849 and completely remodeled in 2007 by Iona Frost-Pennington bringing new life to this fabulous, historic building. The hotel has been extensively modernized and updated from 2020 making it a premier choice for guests visiting the western coast of this area of outstanding national beauty for both business and leisure.

The Pennington’s friendly and happy team are committed to making your visit one you will remember, greeting guest as friends. We are also very happy to welcome your four legged friends and offer dog friendly accommodation, eating areas and some surprises too, with some of the best dog walks anywhere, right on our doorstep positioned centrally in the village right on the tidal estuary this really is an exceptional base for outdoor pursuits too.

Our high quality food offering is proudly overseen by our Head Chef, who being a “Cumbrian Lass” uses locally sourced produce wherever possible including fresh fruit and vegetables from Muncaster Castle Gardens. Our Kitchen team are always looking to provide an exceptional quality dining experience offering regular special events in the hotel showcasing local producers and suppliers.

Standing proudly in the center of the village the Pennington hotel has 22 well appointed and relaxing bedrooms, with quality bathrooms, smart TV’s, and comfy beds all guest bedrooms and public areas offer high speed internet which has been complete upscaled and renewed in 2023.
The Pennington is only 2 miles from Muncaster Castle & Gardens where a spectacular day awaits for visitors to the area from 2 Hawk and Owl displays daily to the 77 acres of gardens and trails to explore, boasting Bluebell Woods and Rhododendron Blooms in the spring.
