About

The Carlisle Cathedral Café sits at the heart of the precinct in the footprint of the medieval cloister, with unrivalled views of the Cathedral and Precinct. A fantastic setting right in the heart of this ancient city, you can enjoy hearty food made right here in our kitchen with homemade cakes and scones, alongside a coffee, blended for us in the city by John Watt & Co.; a can of fizzy pop, made in Cumbria by Mawson’s; or enjoy a glass of wine or beer with your lunch – our exclusive ale – The 900 – is brewed up the road by the Carlisle Brewing Co.

The Café is a relatively new addition to the precinct and was completed in June 2020 as part of a project that aimed to bring the medieval Fratry building back-to-life. The project took over 10 years from conception to completion, and now offers a beautiful setting in the centre of Carlisle.

Carlisle Cathedral Café can provide catering for on-site meetings and events, please make contact to discuss your requirements.

Carlisle Cathedral Cafe has won multiple awards for its design as part of the Fratry Project, including the RIBA North West Award 2022, RIBA North West Project Architect of the Year 2022 and the RIBA National Award 2022.
