About

Home to Summer Jump horseracing, dubbed the Glastonbury of Racing, Cartmel Racecourse is a fabulous place to spend a day out in the South Lakes. Just a few miles from Lake Windermere in the beautiful, historic village of Cartmel, you can enjoy all the thrills of jump racing with added delights of the funfair, music events and dedicated family fun days! On site you can sample from some of our range of delicious local food and drink vendors, or browse local stall holders. If you would rather a DIY approach, you are more than welcome to bring your garden to us, with all picnics including alcohol and BBQs welcome on all race days. Why not explore the local surroundings, too - nicknamed the Michelin Village, home to excellent eateries from coffee shops to fine dining restaurants, with a trip to the beautiful Priory and local artisanal shops to top the day off.

Accessibility NotesOur course is very much like its encompassing Lake District with the majority of the course situated on grass. We have a limited number of accessible spaces available and unfortunately cannot guarantee use of a space on each race day. With these limitations in mind, please think of those who may struggle most with our large grass race course. Personal assistants receive complimentary general admission – please contact the Racecourse Office directly and we will be able to help you with this.

This information is self-assessed; therefore we accept no liability for its accuracy. Please contact the venue for further information.
