About

Crumble Cottage – A Romantic peaceful countryside retreat near Cartmel

Set in an idyllic quiet countryside location Crumble Cottage is surrounded by woods, fields and beautiful private gardens. Perfect for walks from the door, losing yourselves in the gardens, or star gazing under dark skies. This 16th century listed building has been sensitively converted by the owners retaining lots of original features and character.

The cottage has been carefully designed to provide everything you need for a memorable break. Step into a cosy living area with log stove, ancient beams, thick stone walls and shuttered windows. Upstairs you will find a sunny spacious bedroom with great views, king sized bed and huge crystal chandelier.

Crumble Cottage is ideal for singles, couples, and anyone celebrating a special occasion. Our guests enjoy walking, wild swimming, gardens (we open ours for the National Garden Scheme) love nature, great food, or just relaxing in front of a log stove.

Our 5 star reviews consistently mention our attention to detail, personal touches, magical location, the quiet, sharing local knowledge and recommendations. “Its more than just a holiday cottage its an experience”. As a result we are rewarded by continually high numbers of returning visitors, book now and find out for yourself. An easy one mile walk to medieval Cartmel with spectacular Priory, award winning restaurants, waterside pubs, famous racecourse, cheese shop, micro-brewery, wine bar and Sticky Toffee Pudding.

Crumble Cottage is the perfect base to explore The Lakes. Whether its walks from the door, exhilarating cycling, wild swimming, wandering around the motor museum or trips on the steam train to Windermere’s hop on hop off ferry – there is something for everyone.

Crumble Cottage is one of our two special places at Crumble Cottages. If you would prefer a hot tub experience then try Upper Crumble.
