The Pheasant Lodge
About
The Pheasant Lodge is a spacious self-catering apartment in Field Broughton, just two miles from Cartmel in Cumbria. Set on the ground floor of a Georgian country house, it sleeps up to six guests and offers garden views, a log burner and private parking for three cars.
It’s a peaceful countryside base for families, couples and friends exploring the Lake District, visiting Cartmel Racecourse or planning a meal at L’Enclume or Rogan & Co.
Space to settle in
The Lodge retains its high ceilings, large windows and parquet floors, with plenty of room to spend time together or find a quiet corner.
The main bedroom has a super king-size bed. The second bedroom can be arranged with twin beds or a super king-size bed, while a sofa bed in the lounge accommodates two additional guests.
The lounge has deep sofas, a log burner, garden views and a large television with Sky and Netflix. A separate dining room seats six, with a cupboard of board games and toys for relaxed evenings in.
Everything for a self-catering stay
The kitchen includes an oven, hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer and coffee-making facilities, along with cookware, crockery and glassware.
There is a bathroom with a bath and overhead electric shower, plus a separate WC. The utility and boot room has a washing machine, electric drying rack, coat storage and spare wellies. Space for a few bikes is available, with garage storage on request.
Families will find a travel cot, high chair and children’s cutlery. Outside, guests have three private garden areas to enjoy, with outdoor seating and a picnic table. Solar panels contribute to the property’s electricity supply.
Explore Cartmel and the Lake District
Cartmel’s restaurants, pubs, independent shops, Priory and racecourse are just two miles away. The southern end of Windermere is also within easy driving reach for lake cruises, waterside walks and family days out.
Nearby places to explore include Hampsfell, High Dam, Grange-over-Sands, Holker Hall and the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway. Your host, Hannah, is happy to share personal recommendations for walks, places to eat and days out.

The Postcode will take you to the centre of Field Broughton, normally next to the Parish Rooms building, which is at the back of the house. The main gates for Pheasant Lodge are located on the road from Cartmel, Pease Close Lane.
If you get to St Peter's Church you have gone too far. If you find yourself at the Parish rooms in Field Broughton, do the following: With the Parish Rooms on your left, head down to the T-junction towards the main road to Cartmel. There is a traffic mirror at the end of this road. Turn left and 25 metres down, turn immediately left again. You will see a large stone gateway. The lodge name is on the front of the gateposts. Head up the long driveway and you will see the house on the left. Park here, in front of the house where the large windows are, next to the sundial.
Public Transport Directions
The nearest station is Grange over Sands about a 10 minute drive. Oxenholme is a 25 minute drive, near Kendal and a mainland train route. We would recommend taking a taxi or hiring a car from these stations.
