About

Ravenglass Station

Times: 13:00
Distance: 3.2km / 2miles
Gradient: Very occasional steeper sections, surface is tarmac, gravel or grass.

You need to be an Outdoor Mobility member to book a Tramper.

The Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway Tramper at Ravenglass allows you to explore the village, with its beautiful main street and lovely grassy promenade. The latter has magnificent views over the estuary into which three rivers flow, the rivers Irt, Mite and Esk. Also names of some of the steam trains which run from here up the Eskdale valley and back, a perfect pre-Tramper activity.

Once you have had an explore of the village, refreshments are available at the Ratty Arms or the Turntable Cafe at the station.

You can embark on the second section of the route. This takes you along the Eskdale Trail and on a trip back in time to visit the Roman Baths. These ruins, from when Ravenglass was an important Roman port, are incredibly well preserved with the original Roman mortar still holding strong.

One Tramper is available daily at 13:00 for 2hrs 30mins.

Members must be accompanied on the route by another person during the Tramper hire session.

All Tramper users must stay on the designated Tramper route path.
