About

Activities in Lakeland take the hassle out of arranging activities and events in the lake district.

With 20 years' experience of organising activity packages, breaks and events exclusively around the Lake District, we have the local knowledge to make your trip a great success.

Our specialist team will work closely with you to develop an event/programme that will suit your aims and your budget. With our experience and unparalled selection of activities all you need to do is email or call us and its that easy.......

You can book just about any combination of activities with one click or call, and we can add accommodation if you wish. Just tell us what you want, and/or how much you want to spend, and we will do the rest!

Activities on offer include:

Abseiling & Mega Abseiling

Abseiling is a great way to have an adventure without a huge amount of skill or fitness needed. Its easy to get competent at and a bit of a rush as you first go over the edge.

There are a range of variations from the huge Mega Abseil, to abseiling waterfalls in Aquaseiling and combining it with Rock Climbing for a mixed experience. We also have standard abseiling venues for regular people and families with children.

The site of our Mega Abseil is a 100ft descent into the abandoned quarry and exit by pitch black tunnel.

We also have a smaller abseil in the same spot where you get to access it through abandoned tunnels

Mega Abseling takes 3 hours and has an over 16 age limit

Abseiling (Cathedral) take 2 hours and is suitable for families

Air Rifle Shooting

Using 22 air pistols to shoot at various targets. Fire our accurate, powerful, light and almost silent rifles. Sit and take aim in comfort on our covered purpose built range or stand in our outdoor range or woodland area with an array of targets to test your aim and concentration. These include traditional bulls eye, spinner & drop down targets, simulated animals and sniper targets.

Aquasailing

Descend some spectacular waterfalls in style. Abseiling through clear flowing cascades is not for the timid. The full trip is usually a half day affair and is only for teenagers/adults. Full day sessions are available for adults only. Wet suits are provided.

Archery

Rediscover the lost art of Archery. Improve your aim with a little guidance from one of our qualified instructors. Competitive yet relaxing, archery can be enjoyed in all weathers as we can offer both outdoor and undercover facilities. A great way to enjoy a bit of healthy competition.

Bushcraft

Create your own ‘wilderness’ experience – are you skilled enough to produce a hot drink on a open fire and serve it with your own freshly made scones and jam?

We run the following activities at a variety of levels:

Bushcraft basic introductions

Putting up a shelter,

Starting a fire with flint/steel,

Woodland tools and knife-work

Why not make try cooking up some grub on an open fire - (pizza/pancakes, no bush-tucker here!).

Canyoning

Canyoning; Not for the faint hearted. Descend spectacular gorges in the most adventurous fashion. Once committed you jump or abseil down a series of waterfalls into deep plunge pools. We do full and half day trips but is best done as part of whole day with an abseiling session first so you are familiar with the equipment and more waterfalls abseils can be included.

Please note canyoning is an adventurous activity and involves abseiling and/or jumping off waterfalls into pools and carries an inherent degree of risk that all participants should be aware of. Minimum age 18 years.

We provide all safety equipment including helmets, buoyancy aids, harnesses, ropes and wetsuits. In extreme high water a suitably adventurous alternative will be offered.

Less committing alternatives include Aquaseiling and Ghyll or Gorge Scrambling.

Clay Pigeon Shooting

Clay Pigeon shooting with various traps for beginners and the more experienced. Clay Pigeon shooting is a popular activity, with a choice of 12 to 50 clays, there is plenty of opportunity to refine your shooting skills. Minimum ages apply due to the size of the guns and force of the “kickback”. This activity is available in the North or East Lakes.

Climbing

We offer a number of options including the 'real thing' learning on one of South Lakeland's scenic outcrops or trying longer multi-pitch mountain routes in the heart of the Lake District for those who have plenty of experience. For the cooler months we can use Lakeland's well developed indoor climbing walls. Session approx 2- 2.5 hrs.

Ghyll Scrambling, Gorge Walking

A great way to experience the Lakeland scenery, scrambling up a spectacular mountain beck, traverse deep pools, climb small waterfalls, swim and jump in when you feel like it.

Horse Riding

Experience the beauty of the Lakeland countryside and its changing seasons from the back of a horse. We can arrange rides to suit you, from 1 hour to a full day.

Kayaking and Canoeing

These single and double-seater sit on top kayaks are awesome fun and easy to get to grips with! Qualified instructors for your safety and to help you enjoy yourself.

Kayaking; Single and Double seat sit on top kayaks, a comfortable and stable way to explore the Lake District waters! Great for youth groups, families, and adults who like a bit of fun. Trips along the lakeshore, games, paddle skills, safety, rescue and star tests. Kayaking is available Easter – October only due to water temperature!

Canoeing; Tandem open canoes are a great way to get out and about on the water and are popular with anyone wanting a canoeing rather than swimming experience! For longer trips, greater stability and speed we can catamaran the boats, and even add a sail. We use mainly Windermere lake but also have a mobile fleet that can go anywhere. Canoeing is available all year round

Quad Treks

A chance to have fun off road with 360cc or 400cc quad bikes. We offer technically challenging escorted treks in on of two locations from 20 minute taster sessions to longer hour long journeys.

Raft Building  & Races

This is a very popular activity with those who enjoy some competitive light hearted fun. Popular with all ages, it needs at least 4 to paddle a raft, (more if children). The raft can also be used for a short journey.

Great for Corporate Groups and Teambuilding, we can tailor the session to suit your teambuilding aims. We can do this activity at various venues, and can build it into our full day team building programmes.

Sea Cliff Traversing

A fun introduction to sea cliff traversing above the sands (and sea) of Morecambe Bay near Grange over Sands. Great for families and younger groups.

This scenic limestone outcrop on the sands of Morecambe Bay offers the only venue in the Lakes area for some sea-cliff traversing. The routes are easy and great for young families. Traverse at low level above the sands (and water if the tide is in) past the place where the last wolf in England was shot and where Peregrines still cry above you, try the squeeze through the cave and then romp back along the sands or over the promontory past the trig point.

The facilities available at the venue or site of the activity vary. All activities need to be pre-booked to ensure there is a suitably qualified instructor for you so full instructions including directions to a meeting point, what to expect from the activity and the venue and what to wear, are sent to you in advance.

Some venues have free parking and toilets others you will need to use pay and display car parks, some have free parking for National Trust members, others are local authority. Some venues have toilets others the arrangements are 'rural'. Most locations for adventure activities have very limited disabled access/facilities due to the nature of the activities.

We will be very happy to advise on what is possible and/or advisable for anyone with special needs, but it will usually require a conversation between the instructor and the client before booking/arrival to ensure we can do our best to deliver something to meets expectations.

Road Directions

We use a number of venues around the Lake District to allow for the nature of different activities. (NB no activities take place at the admin office address). The locations for climbing, caving, canoeing, ghyll scrambling and mountaineering are dictated by the needs of the activity. Other activities like shooting, quad biking and bushcraft need specialist areas away from public areas/footpaths.
