Cumbria is one of Britain’s most mouth-watering foodie destinations, and we’ve got ten Michelin stars to prove it. Which is pretty exceptional going for England’s second-least populated county, but we’ve been producing superb food since ancient times. It’s all about the quality of our local produce, which in the hands of our expert chefs is transformed into a feast for the palate. We’re proud of our culinary superstars - meet some of them here, but you don’t need the Michelin stamp to eat exceptionally well in the Lake District, as virtually every town and village has a quality restaurant for a memorable meal – as do most of our best hotels and country houses.
