About

Lake View Restaurant

Connoisseurs of fine cuisine will find much to appreciate at Armathwaite Hall Hotel and Spa. Chef takes full advantage of a wealth of local seasonal produce and Cumbrian specialities to create a variety of gastronomic delights. His dishes draw inspiration from both traditional English fayre and classical French cuisine refined to reflect the expectations of our guests.

Many years of thoughtful and knowledgeable selection of wines have given the Hall a cellar of distinction sure to please the most discerning of palettes thus providing the perfect complement to chef’s culinary creations.

The Grill Steak and Seafood Restaurant

The Grill specialises in ‘farm and sea to table’ cuisine with a focus on serving the highest quality, locally sourced steak and seafood including beef from the hotel’s own herd of Belted Galloway cattle.  Offering both hotel guests, spa guests, visitors to the area and local residents a fresh, new approach to dining out in the comfort of an inviting and luxurious environment. This restaurant features a beautifully designed ambiance, blending modern elegance with natural warmth. The soft, upholstered banquettes and stylish dining chairs invite guests to settle in, while the rich wood flooring adds a touch of timeless sophistication. The deep blue walls, accented by warm lighting and subtle, modern panelling, evoke a cosy yet upscale atmosphere perfect for intimate dinners, casual gatherings, or celebrations.

The menu is a delightful invitation to the taste buds, featuring timeless classics such as Chateaubriand, Lobster and Dover Sole, all reimagined with a modern twist. For those seeking lighter dishes, a diverse selection of fresh salads, sharing platters, and vibrant vegan and vegetarian dishes are available, including the flavourful Keralan Cauliflower and Red Pepper Curry and the rich, smoky Barbecued Miso Aubergine.

For a more casual dining experience, guests can enjoy handcrafted pizzas and gourmet hamburgers, all made with the finest locally sourced ingredients. Whether guests are indulging in a sophisticated entrée or savouring a relaxed bite, the menu promises an exceptional dining experience that celebrates both quality and creativity.

The Grill is open daily from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

For more information, or to make a reservation call 017687 76551 or visit https://www.armathwaite-hall.com/dining/the-grill/

Afternoon Tea

The consumption of afternoon tea increased dramatically in popularity during the early nineteenth century, when it is said that Anna, the 7th Duchess of Bedford made the taking of tea fashionable. It is said that she complained of "having that sinking feeling" during the late afternoon when at the time it was usual for people to take only two main meals a day, breakfast and dinner at around 8 o’clock in the evening. A solution for the Duchess was a pot of tea and a light snack, taken privately in her room during the afternoon.

Recently the afternoon tea has been somewhat forgotten with the surge of skinny lattes and creamy cappuccinos, but at Armathwaite Hall we are bringing it back to the 21st century. Our afternoon teas have come a long way from the cucumber sandwiches and one choice of tea. Today, afternoon tea is far more cosmopolitan with teas being imported from all over the world including Kenya, India, The Himalayas and China.

Guests at Armathwaite Hall Hotel and Spa can enjoy a full afternoon tea service from 12:30pm-5pm. Diners can choose from a selection of savoury and sweet treats, including sandwiches and filled mini brioche rolls, quiche, homemade cake, biscuits, scones and cappuccino panna cotta.

Cocktail Bar

The Cocktail Bar exudes style and sophistication, a decadent room perfect to enjoy a delicious lunch or your favourite cocktail. Within the room gilt framed art is hung on the panelled walls, the decorative fireplace takes pride of place and plush secluded seating including a Champagne booth offers a comfortable place to enjoy your favourite tipple. The Cocktail bar is a must when visiting Armathwaite Hall Hotel and Spa.
