It’s no wonder that the Lake District, Cumbria – the inspiration for poets and creative types, is a vibrant centre for the performing arts. Live theatre might be limited at the moment, but there is a fantastic programme of events for 2021 already booking up fast at our superb theatres and performance venues.
The show must go on. The Rosehill Theatre in Whitehaven have been hosting innovative drive-in performances in the car park until their full programme of drama, comedy and music can resume.
Whatever your taste, there is always something to see in the Lake District, Cumbria. The Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal hosts everything from touring bands, stand-up comedians to the annual Christmas pantomime.
The pretty little market town of Millom, on the Cumbrian Coast, plays host to live music, comedy shows and family entertainment at the Beggar’s Theatre. The venue has now reopened and is running shows with socially distanced seating.
There is nothing better than an outdoor gig. The Lake District, Cumbria hosts a variety of music festivals from blues and country music to Kendal Calling with world-renowned headliners.
There is a vibrant arts scene in the Lake District, Cumbria. Organisations such as Eden Arts host a range of gigs, exhibitions and activities. In the place synonymous with Wordsworth, there is also a varied programme of live poetry recitals. You can even have a go yourself.
For a unique theatre experience you simply must take a trip to the Upfront Puppet Theatre. This traditional art is alive and well with original productions that delight audiences from ages 4 - 94 years of age with the puppets all created in their own workshop.
