Cockermouth Live!

Cockermouth LIVE! is a local music festival in its 16th year, combining an exciting programme of headline, ticketed events and a weekend of free gigs by local musicians and performers hosted by over 20 venues across the town.

Running from 3rd to 6th July, this year the festival kicks off with an evening of punchy poetry and cracking comedy from talented West Cumbrians Steph Bradshaw and Emma McGordon. On Friday night our headliner is Glastonbury emerging talent winner N’famady Kouyaté, bringing a joyful West African vibe to the Kirkgate Centre. On Saturday, we’re excited to welcome unique jazz collective Oppgard and legendary Manchester band Stax of Soul. Join Cockermouth Mechanics Band celebrating their 200th anniversary with a special ‘Brass on the Grass’ picnic concert and round off the festival experience on Sunday night with a rousing Grand Finale concert by Cockermouth’s own orchestra!

At the heart of the festival every year are the free gigs by over 70 local acts throughout Saturday and Sunday in venues across town, from shops, churches, cafés and restaurants to the iconic Cockermouth Castle and the newly rebooted Jennings Brewery. From choirs and rock bands, ukeleles to singer songwriters, folk to jazz, you’re bound to find something to enjoy. Wander round town and follow your ears! 

As well as all the music, there’s a full programme of fun activities for all ages. Join in a dance flash mob, hop on the Lost Bus to Cockermouth, look out for artworks on display as part of ‘Meanders’ or follow the instrument trail to create your own quirky Cockermouth Live! orchestra.

Whether you’re popping into town for your shopping, coming for a day out or spending the weekend soaking up the atmosphere, there’s plenty for everyone to enjoy!
