About

Set amidst breathtaking Lakeland scenery at Ambleside, our family business is an attraction for all seasons. Remowned for an extensive range of quality gardening and lesiure products, Hayes has been providing the highest standards of service and value for over 200 years. We stock an enormous range of plants, shrubs and trees and everything for the gardening enthusiast, from pots to planters, trellis to gazebos and one of the best selections of garden furniture in the region. Our friendly and expert staff are always on hand to provide advice and assistance or to try to answer any of your gardening queries.

Our enormous indoor shopping halls house a multitude of products; everything from kitchenalia, books, greetings cards, fashion accessories, jewellery and handbags, to clothing and footwear. In recent years, a number of high-street concession stores have joined us including large branches of The Edinburgh Woollen Mill and Cotswold Outdoor. In the Autumn our shopping halls are transformed into a Wonderful World of Christmas, housing one of the finest displays of trees, lights and all manner of Christmas decorations in the north.

With ample free parking and our own Four Seasons Terrace Café on site, enjoy a shopping trip to Hayes when you are next in the Lakes - the perfect venue, whatever the weather!

We also welcome groups, parties & coaches of any size, which we can comfortably accommodate in our designated free coach parking areas.

The Four Seasons Terrace Cafe

Open seven days a week, the cafe provides the full range of refreshment choices throughout the day, from speciality coffees, full English breakfasts, all-day snacks, tasty lunches and very popular Afternoon Teas. The Cafe can comfortably accommodate over 200 seated diners so there is no need to book unless bringing a large group, when booking in advance is advisable. The Four Seasons Terrace Café also offers great options for children, crayons and activities included!

Breakfast available from 9:00am - 11:00am
Lunch from 11.30am - 2.30pm
Snacks from 11:00am - 3.30pm - Jacket Potatoes, Soup, Panini and Salad Bar
Afternoon Tea from 2.30pm - 4.30pm - Freshly made sandwiches, home made scone with fresh cream and jam, served with your choice of tea or coffee.

Our Sandwiches and cakes are available all day, along with hot and cold drinks.

We also welcome groups, parties & coaches of any size, which we can comfortably accommodate in our newly refurbished Terrace Café. Our outdoor terrace with views over the garden centre & surrounding fells is perfect for afternoon tea & can be accessed using the lift.
