About

If you’re visiting the Ambleside area why not pop into the Old Courthouse Gallery? We have a fantastic collection of art & crafts by some amazing artists, many of them local to the area. We display and sell paintings, including local scenes in a variety of artistic styles. Alongside that we also have glass art, ceramics, sculptures and fine furniture so there’s lots to browse!

We are located in Ambleside’s historic courthouse building, which retains many of it’s original Victorian features and is worth seeing in its own right. With so much art on display, we often find that visitors can happily browse for up to an hour. That makes it a perfect destination for any rainy intervals whilst you’re in Ambleside! And if you’re lucky enough to be visiting on a sunny day, then the art just glows in the light from the many tall original windows.

We also hold special exhibitions at the gallery, usually twice a year, featuring curated collections from one or more of our artists. You can find out the latest event news here.
