You are here: Home > Things to Do > Kayaking on Derwentwater with Adventure Vertical
Discover the secret places of the Lake District only accessible by kayak, just waiting for you to discover.
Take a sunset paddle with a picnic dinner or journey to a sheltered hidden bay for a lunch, kayaking is as relaxing or demanding as you like. But it really does enable you to escape the crowds!
If you've not tried it before, then spend a fantastic day with one of our instructors using our Sit on Top Kayaks, these allow the novice to head out onto the water without the need for capsize drills and rescue practice. With their high buoyancy and stability learn a few skills before undertaking a short journey.
We’ll match the session or day to what you’re looking for as a couple/family or party. With instruction/coaching, clothing and equipment all provided as part of the price. You just need to bring the sense of adventure and maybe some snacks or a packed lunch.
With our tandem kayaks we can enable families to try kayaking together maximising on that shared experience, with the younger ones able to paddle with the support of parents.

About Adventure Vertical
Based in Cumbria, we operate across the North of England, Midlands and North Wales. Where our clients have very specific requirements on location, then we have operated out of hotel grounds across the UK and many of the UK’s National Parks to ensure delivery of adventures close to their base.
We offer a range of adventurous outdoor activities for team building, recreation, outdoor education, development and training to a broad portfolio of clients. These include schools, colleges, youth groups, voluntary organisations, individuals, families, adult and corporate groups. However we hold true to our roots, and our core clients will remain families looking to inspire the next generation of explorers. This is why we hold a 3 year license to deliver adventurous activities to those 18 years or under from the Adventurous Activities Licensing Authority, allowing us to deliver to schools, cadets and youth groups.
