Develop some different watercolour techniques that can be used for portraits. Photographs and photocopies will be used as source material for the portraits eliminating a lot of the time usually taken to draw out before painting.
Catherine MacDiarmid has exhibited widely including the Mall Galleries and was a semi-finalist in the Sky Portrait Artists of the Year 2019. Catherine has 28 years' experience teaching art courses.
Please bring with you:
*A3 watercolour paper x 3. These should be rough or NOT in texture and at least 140IB/300gms. They can be loose, stretched on separate boards or in a block pad.
*Pencils – HB and 4,6 or 8B.
*Tracing paper or trace down.
*A4 photocopy of a face/head that you want to paint. Make this fill the A4 surface. Have the photo in a colour form as well – either a photograph or digital image.
*Watercolour paints.
* A range of soft watercolour brushes (make sure one is large – No 12 round or ½" flat or similar.
*Water spray bottle.
*Paper towels.
We have a Design shop at Rheged in case you are missing any materials.
