Taking inspiration from landscapes and natural themes, we will first explore abstract mark making with beautiful metallic and matte watercolour paints and ink. Previous experience is not needed for this creative class. If you can dip a brush into paint, then that is all that is required, as the marks made will suggest areas for embroidering onto.
Simple stitches will then be employed to highlight areas within the marks, and Victoria will be on hand to help at every step to guide you through this simple process.
This workshop is a mindful and relaxing experience, and slow stitching and instinctive colour selection is very much encouraged.
All materials are included, and you will receive an enhanced kit to take away with you that will encourage the making of work beyond this workshop. The kit includes:
· Set of watercolour paints, and a half pan of metallic paint.
· Paint brush.
· Selection of embroidery threads and pure wool threads.
· John James Embroidery Needle.
· Embroidery Hoop.
· Two pieces of fabric (one to use in the workshop, and one for an extra project at home).
· A calico bag to store your work in, with the possibility of decorating with the techniques learnt.
· A printed stitch guide.
Victoria is a qualified artist and teacher holding two Masters degrees in Fine Art and Creative Practice, and you may have seen her recently on the sewing TV channel, Sewing Street.
