Birchbank Cottage is a stone built cottage sleeping 4 people on a lakeland sheep farm on the fells between Coniston Water and the Duddon Estuary. There are marvellous views over the Duddon Estuary and towards Coniston Old Man while walking on the many footpaths over the fells just outside the door or enjoy some birdwatching on the fells. We are half mile from the Cumbria Way long distance path which goes from Ulverston to Carlisle There are also quiet roads and bridleways for cycling to Coniston Water, Broughton in Furness or Ulverston and the Lakes and Dales loop passes the end of the road. www.lakesdalesloop.cp.uk. Cycle storage is available and there is parking for two cars.
The cottage sleeps 4 in one double bedroom and one twin room upstairs and a cot for a baby, the living room/dining area/kitchen and bathroom are downstairs. There is a TV and DVD player in the living room along with comfortable seating, and a dining table. The kitchen has an electric hob and oven, fridge and small freezer, microwave and dishwasher. The washing machine and dryer are located in the laundry room. The bathroom has a bath with overhead shower, WC and washbasin and underfloor heating.
Birchbank Cottage is semi detached to Birchbank Farmhouse with an unenclosed hard area in front of the cottage with flower tubs and seating. There is also a camping site on the farm.
Dogs are welcome at a charge of £15 per week but must not be left unattended in the cottage and need to be on a lead when walking on the fell because of the sheep.

From the A590, at Greenodd turn onto the A5092 for Workington and Broughton in Furness. On the top of the long hill just past Gawthwaite turn right for Woodland (place name) over the cattle grid then after 1.7 miles turn right and fork immediately left for Birchbank .
There is no public transport to Birchbank. The nearest train station is Ulverston where you can get a taxi or Kirkby in Furness train station is 4 miles walk away.
