Matson Ground Holiday Cottages offers four charming, self-catering cottages in the heart of the Lake District. A stay in one of our cottages supports conservation and biodiversity projects on our 500 hectare organic farm.

With two cottages located near Windermere and two close to Ullswater, each property is set in a peaceful, rural location, providing the perfect escape to the Lakes. Our idyllic cottages make the ideal base for exploring all that the Lake District has to offer, from ticking off some Wainright fells or uncovering cultural gems.

The Windermere cottages provide easy access to the largest lake in England, surrounded by scenic shores, woodlands and picturesque towns and villages.

Elm How and Cruck Barn cottages are situated near the second-largest lake in the region, Ullswater, nestled amongst breathtaking mountains and valleys, perfect for more adventurous outdoor activities. Each cottage combines traditional charm with modern amenities, ensuring guests enjoy a comfortable stay.

Tastefully decorated with cosy interiors, many of the cottages boast log fires, private gardens and stunning views over the surrounding countryside. Well behaved dogs are welcome in all our cottages. Whether you're looking for a romantic getaway, a family adventure or just to unplug, Matson Ground Holiday Cottages provide the perfect setting to relax and recharge amidst some of England's most beautiful landscapes.

Surface of the car park and pathway leading to the entrance is gravel, stone paving or tarmac.

Other: There is a small stream running between the car park and entrance at Elm How and Cruck Barn.
