Towns and Villages Near Carlisle

As well as the vibrant city of Carlisle, there are some great towns and villages across the Carlisle and Hadrian’s Wall area which are well worth a visit. In the west, Bowness-on-Solway boasts a coastal position and some of the most stunning sunsets across the region; while in the east, the charming market town of Brampton is bursting with character and history.

A bus route connects Carlisle with its nearby towns and villages, while if you’re feeling adventurous you can walk or cycle along the Hadrian’s Wall Path National Trail, which begins in Bowness on Solway. You can also travel by train, with rail services across the area and a well-served train station in Carlisle’s city centre.

Explore the towns and villages around the area of Carlisle and along Hadrian's Wall and get inspired to learn more about this fascinating area.
