The Cumbrian Coastal Route has been designed to inspire you to explore this captivating and unique area. The route has been split into five smaller sections, plus two new add-on sections, each one do-able in a day! However, this would barely be scratching the surface and you could easily fill a few days in each.

Explore sections of the Cumbrian Coastal Route

Section 1 - Morecambe Bay - The Foodie Peninsula
Discover the Cumbrian side of Morecambe Bay, taking in some of the foodie destinations that have made this area their home.
Section 2 - Furness Peninsula and Island Hopping
Explore this landscape of contrasts - the soaring red sandstone ruins of Furness Abbey and the industrial heritage of Barrow, all rounded off with a spot of island hopping.
Section 3 - Haverigg to Seascale - Where the Lakes Meet the Sea
Discover the rugged beauty of Cumbria’s coastline in the western part of the Lake District, where the mountains meet the sea.
Section 4 - Seascale to Maryport - The Nordic Coast
Travel further up the West Coast and you get a sense of this area's intriguing past of maritime history, through the ports and harbour towns that grew affluent through trade and tourism.
Section 5 - Maryport to Carlisle- Solway Coast to City Stay
Discover Solway’s outstanding landscapes, diverse habitats and rich heritage, the towns and villages along Hadrian's Wall and then onto the historic city of Carlisle.
CCR Add-on 1 - Carlisle to Birdoswald - The Roman Frontier
If you feel like you can easily conquer the CCR then try out Roman Frontier add on. Rather than heading down the M6 form Carlisle you can push on and discover Hadrian’s wall country.
CCR200 - Add on 2-Discover Alston & the North Pennines
