The Legend of King Arthur at Tullie

Located in the historic city of Carlisle, Tullie  is an award-winning visitor attraction which houses considerable collections of fine and decorative art, human history and natural sciences.

Discover a fusion of old and new: the beautiful Old Tullie is a classical Grade One Listed Jacobean building, home to the Border Galleries – which are full of exciting exhibits and interactive displays. The Exhibition Gallery in the modern extension to the museum is one of the biggest and most attractive contemporary galleries in the north.

Between 4 February – 3 June 2023, a new and exciting exhibition will explore King Arthur’s connection to Cumbria; and offers visitors the chance to discover the mythical legend through the lens of the Victorian imagination.

The Legend of King Arthur: A Pre-Raphaelite Love Story explores the Arthurian legend through the eyes of Pre-Raphaelite artists, via a stunning collection of paintings, drawings, tapestries and more. The incredible line-up of featured artists includes William Morris, Arthur Hughes, and Elizabeth Siddal.

The exhibition will also look at King Arthur’s connection to Cumbria, highlighting key locations through a combination of Pre-Raphaelite works alongside pieces from the Tullie collection.
