You are here: Home > Things to Do > Lake District Tweed & The Soap Dairy Farm Shop
Tucked away just south of Coniston Water, the farm shop at Nibthwaite Grange Farm is the home of Lake District Tweed and The Soap Dairy. Here visitors can discover products that are deeply connected to the landscape, farming and craft traditions of the Lake District and buy directly from the farm door.
Lake District Tweed began as a project to celebrate and revalue local wool. Working with family farms across the 13 main valleys of the Lake District, wool is collected directly from local flocks and transformed into tweed that is firmly rooted in the local landscape. Each tweed represents a specific valley, using only wool sourced from that valley and designs that are inspired by the colours, textures and landscape of that valley. The result is a collection of unique tweeds that reflect the character of the land and the farms that produce the wool.
The farm is also home to The Soap Dairy; small batch gentle soaps and skincare made from the rich Jersey milk of the farm’s house cow. Including carefully selected botanical ingredients the range is gentle, nourishing, sustainable and also inspired by the surrounding fields and fells.
Inside the farm shop visitors can find tweed on the roll, tweed blankets and tweed crafted into beautifully made clothing and accessories. The shop also offers the full Soap Dairy range, British wool knitting yarn and craft materials as well as end of line special offers.
The farm shop is open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm and visits can also be arranged by appointment. Please call 01229 885 663 to book a viewing.
