The Players are the people, The Playhouse is the building!
Penrith Playhouse is the only permanent, member-run Theatre in Penrith, and has thrived on the commitment of our audiences, members, and dedicated volunteers for over 100 years.
Penrith Players perform plays and musicals acted, directed, and staged by members who also work behind the scenes with set building, painting, costuming and make-up, sound and lighting, props and stage management. We also have a youth group with young people aged between 12 and 17 who learn the craft and put on performances of their own.
We have a licensed bar and host live music events throughout the year like Plug and Play, tribute acts, and touring bands. We work with other groups in the local community; writers, artists, musicians, dance troupes, and youth theatres, using our adaptable venue to host meetings, exhibitions and performances alike.
Penrith Players Theatre is a charity with an undiminished commitment to putting on excellent productions in a modern, comfortable and friendly environment, able to seat up to 160 people in our newly refurbished auditorium, with disabled access and facilities, rehearsal space, meeting rooms, and bar in a central Penrith location opposite Penrith train station and across the road from the iconic Penrith Castle.
The future is here — take your role in it…
